A Morning Meditation {Advent}

Listen to what the Scripture says of Jesus:

For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendants of Abraham {that’s you and me}. Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things {like  you and me…in every way!}, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation {meaning, to turn away God’s wrath} for the sins of the people {that would be my sin…and your sin}. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted {that would be you and me}. Therefore, holy brethren {Did he just call us ‘holy’?}, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession. ~Hebrews 2:16-3:1

Do you need help today? Consider Jesus.

Do you need mercy? Consider Jesus.

Do you need a faithful friend? Consider Jesus.

Do you need forgiveness? It is yours.

Do you need a purpose? You already have one; a “heavenly calling.” Consider Jesus–He was sent to bring good news. You–you are sent to share His good news. Our Has-Come-and-Is-Here-and-Is-Coming-Again King continues to ‘send’ Himself to you and through you. That’s right, we really are supposed to go tell it on the mountain, over the hills, and everywhere!

In our Advent waiting, we do not wait alone. Our Brother Jesus waits with us. His presence is here. His power is real. His priestly work is perfect.

Do you need joy today? Consider Jesus…and rejoice.
