Free to Believe {#31 Days}

“Yet many in the crowd believed in him and were saying, ‘When the Messiah comes, will he do more signs than this man has done?’ “ ~John 7: 31

Jesus has a way of driving away disbelief.

He keeps showing up in the middle of uncertainty.

He speaks truth. Displays power.

Over and over again.

And people, especially the powerful ones, seem to want to disbelieve him. In John’s Gospel there seems to be this fear of public opinion. What will others think if they find out I believe in Jesus?

It’s one of the things I find so beautiful—there are some people who can’t help but believe that Jesus is the Messiah. His power and truth frees them from towing the party line.

Conviction born of experience liberates us from conformity birthed of other’s opinions.

Do you have doubts? Big, loud and demanding doubts? Tiny, secretive, and nagging doubts? It’s okay.

Jesus is showing up in the middle of your uncertainty. He is speaking truth. He is displaying power. If only you will stop and listen. Pause and look.  He is present with you.

Think about who you’ve known Jesus to be. Meditate on him. Gaze at his beauty. His beauty will free you to believe.

Be free indeed.

The 31 Day challenge is one week old. I’m finding some inspiring writing and I think you’d enjoy my favorites too. Here they are…{but the month is young, so I’ll share more as time goes on.}

There are so many more…but time is limited, so you should probably visit the collection for yourself. Do you have a favorite 31 Days site that shouldn’t be missed?

This month I’m participating with The Nester in her 31 Day challenge to write every day on a topic of choice. I’m writing this month on how Jesus make us free. Because without him, we’re just a hot mess of a captive.
